Media that has had a strong impact on me -
YouTube
The piece of media which had a big impact on me and my life from then on was a seemingly random YouTube video uploaded in 2014, which I first watched at age 11. Up until that point, I had only used the platform to watch short clips and music and other things similar, as I had pretty much thought that was the entire point of the website and that was all it was really used for. However, at the end of this video, the creator ended it by saying "see you tomorrow". This confused me a little bit at first, but it made me eventually start to realise that YouTube was also in its own way, its own entertainment platform, with its own entertainers who do it as a career and lots of high quality varied content (and not just what I used to think it was...)
Nowadays, I use YouTube more than I watch television, and have done for a long while. This simple video had managed to start changing my view on the entertainment industry completely, and helped me realise the fact that it is now possible to make a career in entertainment independently, as opposed to having to possess a lot of wealth in order to be able to fund a movie or TV show for example. Instead, I now have known for a while that it is in fact very possible to record, edit, and upload videos to the internet of whatever you decide to make on your own, and possibly even make a living that way.
Learning this information has changed me a lot as, for example, it ended up inspiring me to make my own stuff as well. After this point, I got into video editing and found a passion for it, which I personally do not think would've happened and I would not be as in touch with my creative side that way like I am now if it was not for this video (or at least one similar), or less specifically, for the existence of an online entertainment platform like what YouTube is...
